I haven’t personally tried selling my laptop to any of these sources as I’m still trying to get the last bit of use out of it. However, if I needed some quick cash and had an old worn out laptop I would definitely consider this idea.

At Cash For Laptops.com they would give me $230 for my laptop if it is in basic running condition.  But, they are also willing to buy it if it has problems.  For example, if my laptop had a bad hard drive, they would still pay me $210 for it.  If the laptop had a bad battery, they would pay me $195.  And, if it doesn’t power on at all, I would only get $50 for it. If I decided to accept their offer then they would send me a prepaid shipping package so I could mail the laptop to them. Borrowers can apply for loans that range from $1,000 to $25,000. The funds borrowed can be used for things such as debt consolidation, auto purchases, and personal loans. 

These peer to peer lending sites each have their own criteria that borrowers must meet to apply for a loan. For example, Prosper.com has a requirement that borrowers have a minimum credit score of 640. Currently Lendingclub.com requires a borrower to have a FICO score of at least 660 and a debt-to-income ratio (excluding mortgage) below 25%. Both sites have other borrower requirements that will need to be met before qualifying to participate and obtain a loan.
